My cable company charged over $10 more than that to come out to install 1 jack. These phone jacks are great. Not to mention I would have to be available at the times that they gave me. You can put them anywhere in the home with just a basic pug in, no installation. The cost was just under $40. With this there was no wait other than the wait time to receive it in the mail. They are great.
The product did not work even after I tried all the suggestions and called the manufacturer's tel # for assistance. They advised the product would only work if the units were on the same circuit breaker which was not advertised and would have eliminated it for me immediately.I tried it anyway on the same circuit breaker and it still did not work. The outlet was very helpful with the return, but it arrived at their location on 1/14/10 and utill I e-mailed them 1/28/10, I had heard nothing. After my e-mail, they responded immediately, and so did you about my return credit.
I purchased this to add a phone line to the 2nd floor of my house (which does not have a phone jack) - simply adding a traditional phone line, no VOIP, no TIVO, nothing fancy. We have DSL, so I used the 2Wire filters and tried every phone jack in the house for the base. Some had a clearer connection than others, but with every attempt, after 5 seconds to 60 seconds, the line would disconnect and the remote phone was left with no connection. I reset the units, followed all troubleshooting options, and still had the same problem.I returned this unit - I don't know if this was an individual defect, or another symptom of a faulty product, but based on the negative reviews, I won't be ordering another to find out.
I used this product successfully in one home but it did not work in our apartment. Not sure why.
These worked OK for a while, then they died. Reset button and repeated attempts to connect failed. Not recommended.
